Being a leader in a transforming organisation is difficult enough without the dysfunctions that accompany more traditional change management approaches, those that tend to put solutions before outcomes. This training workshop is your opportunity to experience first-hand the paradigm-changing discipline of outcome-orientation.
Twice – at two very different levels of detail – you will get to practice two of Agendashift’s key patterns. Each can be seen both as a structure for facilitated participation and as a leadership routine, modeling conversations that you as a leader in a transforming organisation might want to participate in on an everyday basis:
- The IdOO («I do») pattern – Ideal, Obstacles, Outcomes
- The ‘strategy wrapper’ – contextualise, have the conversation, organise the strategy
You will actually be doing strategy – strategy of a kind conducive to transformation, and conducted in a way conducive to participation and engagement. Expect, therefore a highly participatory event! More specifically, it is an inside-out strategy, a strategy that begins with the internal experience and capability of your context, whether that’s a team, a team of teams, or something bigger. Inside-out strategy is highly complementary to outside-in strategy – a strategy that starts with things outside (most notably the customer); we will briefly examine the relationship between the two.
In the morning session, a high-level discovery pass:
- Celebration-5W, our context-capturing energiser
- True North: Ideal and True North: Obstacles – envisioning our ideal, then identifying what stands in the way of that
- Good Obstacle, Bad Obstacle – paying attention to how we frame our obstacles
- 15-minute FOTO (Lite) – our Clean Language-inspired coaching game as an informal table group discussion
- Objectives and Key Results – organising outcomes into OKRs
In the afternoon session, a deeper, exploratory pass:
- The Agendashift Delivery Assessment
- Areas of opportunity – prioritising assessment prompts, reflecting on them, and identifying obstacles
- 15-minute FOTO (Classic) – a more structured version of the game, rotating through the roles of Client, Coach, and Host
- Option Relationship Mapping – organising outcomes visually, managing ambiguity, and exploring alternative strategies
Who should attend? If you’re a leader in a transforming organisation, support others in that challenge, or aspire to either of those, it’s for you.
Participation in this workshop will be certified by the Agendashift Academy. Your host will be Agendashift founder and Agendashift Academy co-founder Mike Burrows.
